Per the Akron Beacon-Journal:

"The Browns have been in contact with the agent of Carolina Panthers cornerback Captain Munnerlyn, a league source told the Beacon Journal today. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation."

Munnerlyn has previously expressed his interest in returning to the Panthers.

“My heart’s in Carolina,” said Munnerlyn. “I want to stay in Carolina. But at the same time, it’s a business and it’s about being productive. I feel like this past season I had a good year and hopefully I can get a good contract from it.”

Munnerlyn would give the Browns a capable slot corner that could help boost the secondary. He also has ties to the Browns coaching staff with Rob Chudzinski being the former ex-offensive coordinator in Carolina.
