The Belmont Bruins have punched their ticket to the 2013 NCAA tournament after a thrilling 70-68 win over Murray State thanks to some late game heroics from guard Kerron Johnson. With the game-winning shot from Johnson and the beautiful half court winner from Alabama’s Trevor Releford earlier in the day, it is safe to say that the March madness is in full swing.

The win gave Belmont the Ohio Valley Conference championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament field.

Here is video of Kerron Johnson’s game-winning shot:

The win allows Belmont to sit back and enjoy the next eight days rather than wonder if their 26-6 record and RPI of 18. When the tournament field is officially announced on Selection Sunday, Belmont is expected to earn as high as a No. 10 seed or as low as a No. 12 seed.

Belmont is 8-2 in their last ten games and their backcourt duo of Johnson and Ian Clark makes them a prime candidate to be an early bracket buster.
