The Creighton Blue Jays are back-to-back Missouri Valley Conference champions and have punched their ticket to the big dance with a 68-65 win over Wichita State. It was a thrilling game that went down to the final seconds after Wichita State made a late run, but the Blue Jays were able to hang on to earn the automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA tournament.

It will be the 18th tournament appearance for Creighton.

Creighton joins Harvard, Florida Gulf South, Liberty and Belmont as the teams that have earned automatic bids over the weekend. You can keep up with the latest March Madness news here.

Despite their loss, Wichita State will still qualify for the tournament. Expect the Shockers to earn a No. 9 seed, while the Blue Jays could be ranked as high as No. 7.

Creighton is often picked in the early rounds as a bracket buster, and this year should be no different. With the nation’s top shooting offense, the Blue Jays could make some noise in the tournament.
