With eight days until Selection Sunday, the Harvard Crimson were able to clinch their third-straight Ivy League championship and an automatic berth to the 2013 NCAA tournament.
Harvard won the Ivy League title after a 65-56 win over Cornell and some help from Brown. Brown was able to knock off Princeton, which gave the Crimson the conference’s best record and stake of the championship.
It is only the third time in Harvard’s history that they earned a berth in the NCAA tournament and the second time since 1946.
Harvard is expected to be a low seed in the tournament field — likely a No. 14 or No. 15 seed. The Crimson have never won a tournament game.
It will be interesting to see how Harvard’s high powered offense will fair against the nation’s top teams. If the Crimson hope to be a bracket buster, they will need to rely on their 11th ranked three-point shooting.
