The first big surprise of the free agency period has just happened. The Baltimore Ravens were desperately trying to lock up linebacker Dannell Ellerbe before the new league year started, but they failed to do so and Ellerbe hit the open market. Unfortunately for the Ravens, Ellerbe found the deal he was looking for from the Miami Dolphins.

It is a major loss for the Ravens.

This means that the Ravens have lost Ray Lewis, Paul Kruger and Ellerbe in the same offseason. It is not the way that you want to start off a campaign coming off of a Super Bowl victory.

Baltimore lost out big on Ellerbe, but hey, at least they have Joe Flacco locked up for $100 million, right?
