Former Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets Pro Bowl running back/returner Leon Washington was released by Seattle after the acquisition of Percy Harvin. In less than 24 hours, Washington has received a lot of interest and has an official visit lined up with the New England Patriots, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Washington is a dynamic, versatile threat with the ball in his hands and would be an intriguing weapon with the Patriots.

Not only can Washington contribute in the return game, but he is a shifty runner that can hit the home run out of the backfield and he is a very capable receiving threat.

With a player like Washington at his disposal, Tom Brady’s transition to life without Welker could be a lot easier.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who could use a boost in the return game, have also been talking with Washington but a visit has not yet been lined up. However, that could be his next destination if he makes it out of New England without a deal.
