The Minnesota Vikings made it no surprise that they were interested in recently released quarterback Matt Cassel, so it should come as no surprise that FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer reported the news that the Vikings and Cassel have reached an agreement.

Per Glazer:

The Vikings were looking for an upgrade over back up quarterback Joe Webb and in the same move they were able to bring in some competition for current starting quarterback Christian Ponder. Minnesota has been disappointed with Ponder’s development since he joined the league, so the hope is that competition will be able to push Ponder to the level of play that the team has been hoping for since selecting him in the first-round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
