For the seventh time in eight seasons, the Memphis Tigers have cruised to the Conference USA tournament championship. This year, Memphis faced off against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and they strolled to a 91-79 victory.
Memphis guard Chris Crawford was huge for the Tigers and scored 20 of his 23 points in the final thirteen minutes of the game. Crawford finished with 23 points, six assists and three rebounds.
“To start the game off, I was really rushing my shot. I wasn’t in a rhythm really,” Crawford said. “The second half, my teammates kept telling me to keep shooting after I was missing. They had a lot of confidence in me. My coaches kept telling me to keep shooting and in the second half, I found a rhythm.”

With the win, Memphis guarantees their spot in the big dance, though they would have been in the tournament field regardless of Saturday’s outcome. When the brackets are announced on Sunday night, look for the Tigers to be a No. 9 or No. 10 seed in the tournament.
Unfortunately for Southern Miss, the loss signals the end of their season.
The complete field of tournament participants will be announced on Selection Sunday less than twenty four hours from now.
