The New England Patriots are looking for help at wide receiver, but it doesn’t look like that help will be coming from a familiar face. After reports have surfaced that the Patriots are considering signing an offer sheet for Pittsburgh Steelers restricted free agent Emmanuel Sanders, reports of veteran Brandon Lloyd’s release have been making the rounds.
Per New England Patriots beat writer Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald:
The Patriots will release Brandon Lloyd, according to a source.

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the Patriots have parted ways with Lloyd, but it leaves them very thin at the position.
Thankfully for New England, there is a lot of value at the bottom of the first-round of the 2013 NFL Draft at the receiver position. Of course, that only helps if the Patriots choose to go in that direction.
