2014 World Cup Qualifying: USA Tops Costa Rica, 1-0, in Snowy Battle

The United States men’s national team had an important World Cup qualifier on Saturday night in Colorado. The conditions were less than ideal with blizzard conditions throughout the night, but Team USA was able to prevail and take care of business Midfielder Clint Dempsey scored the only goal for the Yankees as they were able to hold off Costa Rica in the less than ideal conditions.

United States’ win over Costa Rica kept their hopes at qualifying for the 2014 World Cup very much alive. A less would have been devastating for their chances.

Team USA will now prepare for another important qualifier against heated rivals Mexico. Mexico played to a draw against Honduras on Friday, so they will be looking to come out and put away the Americans convincingly.

United States has a questionable defensive line, so it will be interesting to see how they hold up against El Tri’s high powered attack.
