United States midfielder Jermaine Jones put together an impressive performance for the Americans during their World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica on Friday night. Unfortunately for Jones, he suffered an ankle injury that appears to be pretty severe and has been ruled out for Tuesday’s qualifying match against the Mexican nationals at Estadio Azteca.
Jones announced that he will be heading back to Germany because of the injury.

Team USA picked up a huge win against the Ticos in a snowy affair at Dicks Sporting Goods Park, but now they will need to replace one of their top performers for the match up in hostile territory against El Tri.
The early candidate to replace Jones is veteran Maurice Edu who has been spending his time in Turkey playing for Bursaspor. Edu has previously appeared for the Yankees in many international caps including the 2010 World Cup and qualifying matches.
Replacing Jones will be the 25th lineup change that Jurgen Klinsmann has been forced to make in as many games.
