Pittsburgh Penguins Rule Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang Out vs. Philadelphia Flyers

Pittsburgh Penguins star center Evgeni Malkin is getting closer to returning to the ice, but after participating in the Sunday morning skate, he decided that it was still too early. Malkin still feeling pain in his injured shoulder, but the news is still positive because he should be able to return in the coming days. Penguins fans were just hoping to have him suited up for Sunday’s contest against the cross state rival Philadelphia Flyers.

The Penguins announced Malkin had been scratched early Sunday afternoon on their official Twitter account:

Penguins defender Kris Letang has also been ruled out for the contest.

Pittsburgh currently sits atop the Atlantic division, while the Flyers are in last place. While it should be a win for the Penguins, they will have to overcome the loss of some key contributors. The two sides always play each other tough, too, so you can never rule anything out.
