Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowl running back Marshawn Lynch joined the NFL as the twelfth overall pick of the 2007 draft out of California and over the weekend he decided to return to his roots.
Lynch stopped in to attend the Golden Bears spring game, but he wasn’t there just to watch.
The former Cal standout got into full uniform and rocked the No. 10 jersey from back in his college days then went out on the field and lined up in the backfield. Lynch lined up on fourth-and-ten and took the hand off. As you would expect from a NFL running back, he easily scored a touchdown.
Here is video of Lynch making his cameo in the Cal spring game:
That is a moment that the players on the field will never forget. There are few players on the roster that will eventually make it to the NFL and stick, but for one moment they got to share the field with a NFL player and proud alumni member of their university.
It was a great gesture from Lynch and I am sure he appreciated not getting hit and risking any injury.
