It was a loss to fellow UFC lightweight Joe Lauzon in less than a minute that sent Melvin Guillard on the move from Colorado to Florida. Guillard was leaving behind his longtime team at Jackson’s MMA in favor of a new gym with some old friends — the Blackzilians. Guillard spent all of 2012 in Florida training with his new team, but the change of scenery did nothing to help him climb back up the division ladder.
Guillard went just 1-3 in 2012 with losses to Jim Miller, Donald Cerrone, and Jamie Varner.
With the disappointing year behind him, Guillard is once again looking for a fresh start and will be leaving the Blackzilians in order to return back to his old trainer Greg Jackson. Guillard made the announcement on Twitter.
Im no longer a blackzillian I went back to where I belong Jackson’s:-):-):-):-):-)

The Blackzillians camp had a lot of hype last year, but a number of their top fighters have struggled to put on a show in their bouts. Whether it is the distractions in Florida or a bigger issue at hand, it wouldn’t be surprising to see more and more fighters leaving the camp.
Guillard was at one time just a shot away for the title before making his change in camp.
With his return to Jackson’s MMA, Guillard is hoping that he can work his way back into the discussion of the lightweight division’s elite.
