Every year the NFL invites a number of potential first-round prospects to Radio City Music Hall to attend the draft live in the green room with their families. Last year, a record 26 prospects attended the draft. There is no word on how many players will receive an invite to attend the draft this year, but we have one name that has surfaced as a potential attendee after receiving an invitation from the league.
During an appearance on PFT Live, Stanford Cardinal tight end Zach Ertz shared the news that he received an invitation from the NFL, but he is unsure whether he will accept the invite.
Depending on who you ask, Ertz is either the No. 1 or No. 2 tight end in the 2013 draft class.
Ertz’s ranking really depends on scheme. If you are looking for a receiving threat, you will prefer Notre Dame’s Tyler Eifert, but if you are looking for a more well-rounded tight end then Ertz is your man. Both tight ends will receive first-round consideration.
The decision for Ertz will ultimately come down to whether or not he believes he will be taken in the first 32 picks. When you are the final player remaining in the green room, it can get awfully lonely and humiliating, so Ertz will have to decide whether the experience of attending the draft live will be worth it to him.
