The Sweet 16 kicked off Thursday evening as teams fought it out for a chance to continue their hopes of reaching the 2013 NCAA Tournament final. After four games, half of the Elite 8 has been determined and there were some upsets along the way.
The No. 2 seeded Miami Hurricanes and No. 1 seeded Indiana Hoosiers were ousted from the tournament thanks to strong efforts from Marquette and Syracuse, respectively. The two upsets give the East Region final a much different look than what was anticipated.
In the other two games, Ohio State was able to edge Arizona on a last second game-winner, while Wichita State continued their run and put an end to La Salle’s Cinderella story.
For today’s action, No. 1 overall seed Louisville returns to action against No. 12 ranked Oregon, while fellow No. 1 seed Kansas looks to hold off a tough challenge from the Michigan Wolverines. Duke takes on Michigan State in the second game in Indianapolis and the nation’s darling team Florida Gulf Coast takes on Florida in the night cap.
Who will complete the Elite 8? We will find out in a matter of hours.
