The UFC is returning to Beantown. After a nearly three year hiatus, UFC president Dana White announced on Twitter Friday afternoon that the promotion would be returning to Boston for a show this summer. The show will take place in August at the TD Garden on August 17. Better yet, the show will help launch Fox Sports’ new channel, Fox Sports 1.
Here was White’s tweets that was full of exclamation points and smiley faces:
We are FINALLY going back to Boston at the TD Garden on Aug 17th for the launch of FOX Sports 1!! We are bringing a SICK card

The last show in Boston came in August of 2010.
The event, UFC 118, was headlined by a lightweight championship rematch between Frankie Edgar and mixed martial arts legend BJ Penn. The card also featured a freak show bout that pitted UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture against former heavyweight boxing champion James Toney.
Demian Maia, Kenny Florian, Nate Diaz and Marcus Davis also graced the evening’s main card.
If White promises a SICK card for the event, we have to hope that it features a title fight or two. There is a chance that Jon Jones could be healthy enough to be on the card after next month’s title defense against Chael Sonnen or perhaps a Georges St-Pierre title fight could be in the works. Personally, I hope to attend the event and would love nothing more than to see Ronda Rousey do some work in the cage.
