The New York Mets are taking ticket promotions to a different level. In an effort to get fans excited for the start of the Major League Baseball season, the Mets are offering up free tickets to this weekend’s series against the Miami Marlins.

The Mets and SNY sent out a link on Twitter yesterday to offer up the promotion to those following their accounts.

Of course, all you need is the link to view the promotion and score your free seat to one of this weekend’s games. The ”Tweet A Ticket” promotion allows fans that buy a ticket to one of the games in the Marlins series to receive a plus-one. In essence, it is a two-for-one deal.

Attendance in April is generally slow, so it comes as no surprise to see teams go to such great lengths to encourage fans to show up and fill the seats.

Heck, the Boston Red Sox have gone as far as to offer cheap beer! Who can pass that one up?

If you’re looking for a nice way to enjoy the weekend and you are in the area, there are worse ways to spend some time than a nice spring day watching baseball. Of course, it is the Mets and the Marlins, so you may not want to set your expectations too high.
