The Wichita State Shockers had an improbably run to the Final Four that included wins over No. 1-seeded Gonzaga and the West Region’s No. 2-seed Ohio State Buckeyes, but that all ended on Saturday evening when the Shockers ran into the tournament’s No. 1 overall seed, the Louisville Cardinals.
Wichita State put out an incredible effort in the game and had a real shot at advancing to the 2013 NCAA tournament final, but a few questionable calls and the emotionally charged Louisville squad prevented them from advancing.
Now, just a few hours after their loss, Wichita State head coach Gregg Marshall wanted to thank the fans for their strong support throughout the season and tournament run and he did so by taking out a full page ad in Sunday’s edition of The Wichita Eagle.
Here is the ad:
It’s a great gesture from the coach and some great marketing at the bottom of the ad. While a run to the Final Four in 2014 may seem improbably, the Shockers are a team that have the ability to make some noise again next season and now they have some late tournament experience to go along with their on court talent.
