Michigan Fans Set Fire to Ann Arbor Following Wolverines Loss in National Championship

After the Michigan Wolverines lost the 2013 NCAA Tournament Final to Louisville late Monday night, their fans took to the streets of Ann Arbor and started a little riot. It seems every time their is a title on the line that the losing team thinks it is a good time to start throwing furniture in the streets and lighting it on fire. The Wolverines fans were no different, though there is no word on whether or not they were all rocking sweet caps like Jalen Rose.

According to AnnArbor.com:

Although fans pouring out of bars and the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor were mostly subdued after the University of Michigan basketball team lost the national championship to Kentucky, firefighters put out at several fires set after the game Monday night.

Firefighters quickly doused a fire in the middle of White Street near McKinley Avenue around midnight, and police appeared to take one person into custody. About 200 people were standing around and many began to cheer as firefighters put out what appeared to be a burning couch.

Police were closing off White Street just after midnight, as debris was still smoking in the street.

A few minor fires later and it looks like the police have everything under control.

None of the damage seemed to be very severe, it just appeared that the Michigan fans were looking for ways to ease their pain and playing with fire seemed like a good idea. It was either that or they were overly intoxicated and really wanted to roast up some s’mores.
