Fallon Fox Responds to Matt Mitrione

UFC heavyweight Matt Mitrione has been suspended after some controversial comments about transgender fighter Fallon Fox on “The MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani. Among other things, Mitrione called Fox “a lying, sick, sociopathic, disgusting freak” for fighting women after being raised as a male.

Now, Fallon Fox has responded.

Via MMA Fighting:

“Matt Mitrione went well beyond disagreeing with the medical experts who say I should be able to compete as a woman, and personally attacked me as a fighter, as a woman, and as a human being.

“His comments do not reflect the spirit of our sport, where most competitors uphold values like respect and dignity.”

Fox has a point.

Mitrione would have done nothing wrong if he shared his thoughts on whether or not she should be able to compete in the women’s division, but his comments turned in to a derogatory and personal attack that completely crossed the line. Mitrione didn’t have to go there, but he did. Now, he will have to suffer the consequences of speaking before thinking.
