NFL Draft 2013: Star Lotulelei Declines Invitation to New York

The NFL has invited Utah Utes defensive tackle Star Lotulelei, who is considered by many to be a top five talent in the 2013 NFL Draft class, to New York to attend the draft live.

However, like many other draft prospects this year, Lotulelei has decided to decline the invitation so he can stay at home and enjoy his special moment with family.

“I want to thank the NFL for inviting me to New York City for the draft,” Lotulelei said in a statement.

“Being invited is a tremendous honor and I’m very grateful for the consideration. After discussing with my family, I have decided to stay in Utah for the draft so I can share this moment with all of the people that have supported me my entire life. I expect over 50 family and friends at our home for this wonderful occasion and look forward to a special day.”

You have to respect the man for staying with his loved ones to enjoy his big day.

When the draft rolls around in just over two weeks, Lotulelei shouldn’t have to wait too long to get that phone call he has been waiting for his entire life.
