West Virginia Mountaineers wide receiver Tavon Austin is one of the most exciting playmakers in the 2013 NFL Draft class and there are a number of teams lining up to see what he’s got to offer their franchise.
With the draft just over two weeks ago, Austin has a pre-draft visit schedule that is so packed he has had to decline some visits with teams.
According to Pro Football Talk, Austin has visits scheduled with the St. Louis Rams, Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets.
There is some belief that Austin could crack the top ten, so the Jets could be a very intriguing fit. New York desperately needs to add playmakers to their horrible offense and Austin is as big of a big play guy as you can get in 2013.
St. Louis is also one of the most logical fits. Like the Jets, the Rams need to add big play guys to their offense.
Cincinnati and San Francisco likely won’t get a crack at Austin unless they trade up, but the Buccaneers could have a shot.
One team to watch, though they aren’t bringing in Austin for a pre-draft visit just yet, is the Carolina Panthers.
One thing is for sure: Austin will be highly sought after on draft day and we could see teams jumping around the draft order with hopes of landing the Mountaineers star. It wouldn’t be too big of a shot if Austin ended up going before his college teammate Geno Smith.
