Cat Zingano Finishes Miesha Tate With Brutal Knees

The second female fight in UFC history is now in the books and it was a barn burner. Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano fought at a high pace for nearly fifteen minutes before Zingano was able to stop the fight with some brutal knees.

Zingano struggled in the early going of the fight, but she was able to turn it on at the end of round two before turning in an unbelievable performance in the third round.

It is the clear favorite to earn a $60,000 bonus for Fight of the Night.

Tate was the favorite going in to the fight, but Zingano showed off why she was able to get to the peak of the sport and she will now have an opportunity to show her skills to a much wider audience.

After her finish of Tate, which may have been an early stoppage but still earned, Zingano’s name is certainly on the map.

With the win, Zingano is now set to face off against UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey later this year (likely in December) and coach opposite Rousey on The Ultimate Fighter season 18 on FOX Sports 1.

Wow. I am new to MMA but I haven’t seen a fight end with several knees to the face before. Wish I could have seen the entire fight.

After re-watching this, I actually think an illegal knee is what started it. Still an impressive finish by Zingano.

She did knock tate down it looked like but tate was not out and the fight should not have been called at that point. The referee who is a ‘terrible referee btw’ Should have allowed the fight to continue until it was certain that tate was out of the fight. They need to get rid of that referee because she is always making terrible calls like the one she made last night. Terrible Terrible stoppage by the ref!
