NFL Draft 2013: Mike Mayock Doesn't See Cornerback Going in Top Ten

On his yearly draft conference call with the NFL media, NFL Network draft guru Mike Mayock shared his thoughts on the upcoming draft class and went against the grain with his view on this year’s cornerback class.

Many had anticipated that Milliner would be a top target for the Cleveland Browns in the top ten or that a cornerback needy team would trade up to land the draft class’ top talent at the position.

However, Mayock doesn’t see things the same way.

Mayock stated during the call that he doesn’t anticipate a cornerback being selected in the top ten.

If that is the case, it could be great news for teams like the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers that will be looking to add a star to their defensive backfield. The two teams would jump on the opportunity to select Milliner if he slipped out of the top ten.

Of course, there is a strong possibility that the Browns could slide back in the draft for a team looking to jump up and grab one of the top offensive tackles. If Cleveland can find a trade partner, then they would pick up an extra pick and still be able to land Milliner later in the draft. That would be a win-win scenario.

We will get a better understand of when the run on cornerbacks will begin in one week.
