The Michigan State Spartans will take the field today for their annual Green and White spring game, and they have a host of top recruits in the country set to watch the Spartans. But something will be different with their helmets, as they will wear a Boston decal to honor the city. Below is a photo from Michigan State football’s Twitter account of the helmets and the decals, with the logo being the signature “red B” of the Boston Red Sox logo, which has also come to symbolize #BostonStrong.

Today’s spring game for Michigan State, by the way, is at 2:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on the Big Ten Network. It’s always touching to see teams honor a tragic event, a person, or a city with a decal on the helmet, and so many teams have come up with ways to honor the city of Boston. The Oakland Athletics chanted “Let’s go Boston!”, the Chicago Tribune had an uplifting cover photo, and the rival New York Yankees sung “Sweet Caroline”. More teams also honored Boston, and the Michigan State Spartans are just the latest team to do this.
