It was just a few weeks ago that West Virginia Mountaineers quarterback Geno Smith appeared to be a top five lock in the 2013 NFL Draft, but, my, have things changed. The latest draft buzz is that if Smith does not go in the top eight selections that he could plummet to the bottom of round one.
In fact, there is some doubt that Smith will be the top quarterback off the board.
Buffalo appears to be the first likely landing spot for a signal-caller and it is believed that their pick is down to either Matt Barkley or Ryan Nassib. Because of his familiarity with Bills head coach Doug Marrone, Nassib appears to be the favorite.
The next spot for Smith would be the New York Jets with one of their first round picks.
However, New York needs to add playmakers on both sides of the ball, so there is some doubt that they would take a quarterback early. After that, it is hard to predict where Smith could end up. What we do know is that there will be a lot of drama surrounding the quarterback position on draft day.
It’s going to be a wild ride.
