With Kobe Bryant watching the Los Angeles Lakers try to make a series out of their match-up with the San Antonio Spurs from his couch, Jodie Meeks has picked up the majority of the minutes.

Jodie Meeks went down with an ankle injury in Game 1 and while it may not seem like it would have been that big of a loss, it could have been the end of the road for the Lakers. Meeks is barely putting any type of pressure on his left foot today but is expected to play on Wednesday.

If Meeks’ injury was serious and missed an extended period of time, Mike D’Antoni would have only Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Chris Duhon, and Darius Morris remaining on the roster for the back court. While Meeks doesn’t provide a huge boost and certainly isn’t replacing Kobe Bryant, his presence is much needed for the Lakers.
