NBA Awards 2013: Marc Gasol Named Defensive Player of the Year

The 2013 NBA Awards continue to roll in and the latest announcement was for the Defensive Player of the Year award. This year’s award went to none other than Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol.

This season, Gasol had an excellent year that is now capped off by the award.

Gasol managed to haul in 7.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. He added that to his 14.1 points per game to complete a very well-rounded season.

The NBA officially made the announcement on Twitter Wednesday morning:

Congratulations to Marc Gasol on the well-deserved honor.
