NFL Draft 2013: Darius Slay Reportedly Has Torn Meniscus

Former Mississippi State defensive back Darius Slay is one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2013 NFL Draft class, but news is surfacing that he may have a minor setback that could keep him out of early workouts.

According to a report from Mike Wilkening of Pro Football Talk, Slay has suffered a torn meniscus.

Slay pulled a muscle while running during his Pro Day, just a few weeks after he earned the honor of being the fastest defensive back at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine.

Because of his combination of size and speed, Slay is expected to be selected early in day two of the draft. He will be attending the event live at Radio City Music Hall and, for his sake, we hope that he doesn’t suffer from an embarrassing draft day slide (this doesn’t seem too likely).

The meniscus tear should not be viewed as a major concern, as players have commonly recovered from such injuries in the past without missing a beat. You can expect the same from Slay.
