2013 NFL Draft: Jacksonville Jaguars First-Round Draft Grade
By John Adair
After Eric Fisher went to the Kansas City Chiefs, Luke Joeckel became the obvious selection for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Joeckel will protect Blaine Gabbert’s blind-side. He earned 1st Team Alll-SEC and 1st Team All-American honors at Texas A&M this past season. Gabbert was staring up at the sky much too often this past season in Jacksonville and will likely have one more chance to prove he was worth their first-round selection a few years back.
Joeckel is a fundamentally-sound tackle. His strength needs to improve to become an elite offensive lineman in the NFL, but he has great hands and understanding of the passing game. What he lacks for in strength and athleticism, he makes up for with his high football IQ and overall skill-set.
