The Dallas Cowboys select Kenny Vaccaro.

Vaccaro is a strong, athletic safety with speed and the ability to play at the line. With Monte Kiffin’s addition to the Cowboy defense, Vaccaro adds a physical presence that has been missing since the Cowboys got rid of Roy Williams.

Vaccaro, 6’0″ 214 lbs., is a very good man defender, but needs a little practice realizing he might be used as the last line of defense in the Cowboys system.

He will surely add depth and athleticism to a Cowboys secondary had a hard time stopping offenses on third down.

Vaccaro attacks the run well. His best attribute is his ability to change direction and chase receivers downfield in order to stay with them in coverage. He may not be a great interceptor, but he has a knack for finding the ball. He ended last season at Texas with 92 tackles, 2 interceptions and broke up 7 passes.

He will be a good combo safety that allows the Cowboys to gamble on defense and play more aggressive around the line of scrimmage, and he can fill in if needed in Nickel or Dime situations.
