And the first pick with the NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Eric Fisher, left tackle from Central Michigan.

Jason LaCanfora reported that he’d be foregoing a gentleman’s agreement and would be tweeting draft picks before they are announced at the podium, but it appears he’s been beaten at his own game before the first pick has even been announced. Per two separate reports, the Kansas City Chiefs have told Central Michigan tackle Eric Fisher he will join the list of names to be called out as the first overall pick in the draft.

Ed Werder tried to dispute this claim, but his motives need to be called into question as an ESPN guy trying to pull the reigns on an NFL Draft story is so flawed it’s funny. Obviously the network would have loved if this info had been kept under wraps until the moment it was announced, but they really come off a lot better knowing the first overall pick will be Fisher.

With Fisher going first overall to the Chiefs, the face of the draft is now changed. The Dolphins said that if Luke Joeckel slips to No. 3, they’ll attempt to trade up with the Raiders to take him. This means that everything people had been mocking now changes as no one had Luke Joeckel going third overall which means players that teams didn’t think will fall to them might do that very thing now.

As for the Chiefs, they are apparently sold that Joeckel just wasn’t the guy of the future. The drama with Kansas City now shifts to what they’ll end up doing with Branden Albert, who is now expected to be traded before the start of the second day.
