NHL Draft Lottery 2013: Colorado Avalanche Get First Pick

The 2013 NHL Draft Lottery was held on Monday night and we finally know who has the No. 1 overall pick of the draft. While they were not the favorites to earn the top pick, the Colorado Avalanche were rewarded the top pick, while the Florida Panthers missed out despite what the odds would have predicted.

Colorado will now have their choice of top players at the 2013 NHL Draft, which will take place June. 30 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.

The top players in the draft are believed to be Seth Jones, Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin. The three players will likely be the top players off the board when June rolls around.

Here is the draft order that we currently know:

14th — Columbus Blue Jackets
13th — Winnipeg Jets
12th — Phoenix Coyotes
11th — Philadelphia Flyers
10th — Dallas Stars
9th — New Jersey Devils
8th — Buffalo Sabres
7th — Edmonton Oilers
6th — Calgary Flames
5th — Carolina Hurricanes
4th — Nashville Predators
3rd — Tampa Bay Lightning
2nd — Florida Panthers
1st — Colorado Avalanche
