UFC lightweight Diego Sanchez is fresh off of a win over Japanese superstar Takanori Gomi and he has been looking for his next contest in the octagon. Luckily for fight fans everywhere, it looks like Sanchez could be close to making a return to the cage.
“I talked to Joe Silva yesterday, and he penciled me in for August 31,” Sanchez said via MMAJunkie.com. “We’re looking at opponents. I did like I always do and said, ‘Look, you’re the man, Joe. You’re the one who makes all these big matchups. And I’m, in my opinion, in the most stacked division in the UFC, and there are plenty of great fights out there, and you’ll hook me up with a good scrap.'”
August 31 is the date of UFC 164 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
While Sanchez says there is no opponent announced at this time, it is comforting to know that he is sticking around at 155-pounds instead of venturing off and making a return to the welterweight division where he has been manhandled in the past.
He has previously called out fighters such as Pat Healy, Josh Thomson, Gilbert Melendez, Nate Diaz,Joe Lauzon and Jamie Varner.
Sanchez is one of the organizations most exciting fighters and he will always put on a show, so you can be sure the UFC has an intriguing opponent in mind
