The Arizona Wildcats offense will be forced to looks for some new weapons in 2013. After losing quarterback Matt Scott to the NFL and wide receiver Dan Buckner to graduation, it was expected that Austin Hill would step up and potentially have an All-American campaign coming off of an excellent sophomore season. Unfortunately, Hill will never take the field this season after suffering a torn ACL.
Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez confirmed the news.
“It just makes me sick, because he was such a great player. But he still will be,” Rodriguez said, via TucsonCitizen.com.
“I don’t know when his time frame is to return, but he’ll be back bigger and stronger with the way technology is today and all that. I really felt bad for him. I know Austin is a tough, strong guy, and he’ll bounce back.”
Last season, Hill led all Wildcats receivers with 1,364 yards and 11 touchdowns. His 11 touchdowns tied a school record. His loss is a devastating blow for the Wildcats offense.
Without Hill, Arizona’s leading receiver coming in to the 2013 campaign is David Richards, who caught just 29 passes for 298 yards a year ago.
