The Kentucky Derby has never been canceled due to poor weather conditions, but that does not mean the weather has always been dry and sunny. This year, the 139th running of the derby will be held on a very sloppy track after rain has come down at Churchill Downs all day long.

The rain is expected to continue up until the post time of 6:24 p.m. ET and throughout the race. You can check out the Kentucky Derby weather history here.

It won’t be the prettiest race, but with a deep field of horses running the race, we are in for an entertaining running of the derby where anything can happen.
