Kentucky Wildcats starting safety Ashley Lowery was in a terrible single-car accident over the weekend, but there is some great news on his status as he remains in the hospital. The family of Lowery issued a statement on his condition that was very positive. The statement, via NBC Sports, read “condition has been upgraded from stable to satisfactory and his injuries are no longer life threatening.”
Lowery had been in intensive care at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center and recently had his breathing tube removed.
There is still a long road to recovery, but at least the news is promising.
Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops issued a statement to touch on Lowery’s health status:
“I went to see Ashely today and was glad to see him and spend some time with him,” Stoops said in the statement through the university. “We’re thankful for the progress he’s made and are hopeful he will continue that improvement. He’s heard from a lot of teammates and is grateful for all the good wishes and prayers that so many people are offering on his behalf. We ask the Big Blue Nation to join Ashely’s football family in continuing to pray for a speedy recovery.”
It is positive to see Lowery is improving and his family is staying positive.
We wish Lowery a full and speedy recovery.
