Phil Jackson Says No to Brooklyn Nets Coaching Vacancy

Sorry Brooklyn, but Phil Jackson will not be the next Head Coach of the Nets.

According to reports from ESPNNewYork.com, Jackson informed the Nets Tuesday night that he definitely was not interested in coaching the Nets next season and beyond.

Jackson has not coached since the 2010-2011 season where he served as Los Angeles Lakers Head Coach. The last time we saw Phil on the bench, the Lakers were swept by the eventual NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks. The 11-time coaching champion has been interested in returning to the NBA, but it is not known if he will ever coach again.

Jackson was highly interested in becoming the Lakers Head Coach again earlier this season after Los Angeles fired Mike Brown five games into the season, but Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak instead decided to hire Mike D’Antoni, which shocked the NBA world and made Jackson feel like he was betrayed.

While it remains to be seen if Phil Jackson will ever return to the NBA, most believe he is willing to commit to a front office job.
