Derrick Rose May Suit Up for Chicago Bulls in Game 3 as Emergency Backup

The hope in Chicago is that Chicago Bulls superstar point guard Derrick Rose will somehow return to the team’s lineup this postseason. Hope arose back in Game 7 of the Bulls series against the Brooklyn Nets and with Chicago surprisingly up 1-0 on the defending champion Miami Heat, fans are hoping that the face of the franchise will make a cameo in the series.
Alex Kennedy of Hoop World brought up an interesting point in a recent article and it highlights about the only way Bulls fans would see Derrick Rose. With Chicago ailing at the point, Derrick Rose could suit up as an emergency backup and play if he absolutely has to. This isn’t a new idea, but Kennedy suggests it’s getting closer to happening.
"Word out of Chicago is that Rose may suit up for Game 3, which will be played this Friday. Suiting up doesn’t guarantee that Rose will play, but being in uniform on the bench rather than donning a suit would be a step forward for the 24-year-old. Nothing has been confirmed at this point, but it’s a possibility."
Nothing has been confirmed, as Kennedy points out, but Bulls fans were going buck-wild when they were just thinking about Rose returning even though it was amid various reports that he wouldn’t. So you can imagine the hype that will be built out of this latest rumor, as the term stoking the coals comes to mind.
But returning in this fashion would suit Rose’s personality. He’s never shied away from his stardom but he’s never fully embraced it either. While fans fantasize about a slow-motion entrance by Rose, filled with smoke and fireworks, a far more realistic and fitting way for him to return would be to somehow do it nonchalant, as though it wasn’t a big deal to him.
Obviously the massive deal being made largely by Rose about not being mentally ready has created a scenario for a more climactic conclusion, but for those that have watched Rose closely before, a totally discreet and non-flashy return wouldn’t be out of the question and would be totally in line with Rose’s character.
