The Chicago Bulls have tried to remain physical in their series against the Miami Heat, but they’re having to do so with a depleted roster. Nazr Mohammed’s ejection in Game 3 was amplified by the fact the Bulls are running low on players and that’s a trend “most likely” to continue in Game 4 as K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune is reporting that point guard Kirk Hinrich is most likely out as he continues to battle a calf injury.

Hinrich hasn’t played for the Bulls since their series with the Brooklyn Nets and while he’s no Derrick Rose, the Bulls are missing his production. It’s not that the point guard’s absence is holding the Bulls back in that he’s the missing piece to the winning puzzle, rather Chicago needs production from anywhere it can get it and Hinrich is a guy who should be starting.

Instead, the Bulls will continue to lean on Nate Robinson and Marquis Teague which is hardly the duo Bulls fans thought would be taking on the Heat when the thought was pondered before the start of the season.

But if there’s a team that can win with it’s reserves, it’s the Bulls. Tom Thibodeau is a like a cult leader in that players buy into his system with blind faith and they’re physical soldiers for his cause. The Bulls are down but they’re not out and as we’ve seen in the series so far, anything is possible and injuries could be meaningless if the right guys step up for Chicago.
