Although the Miami Heat are currently up 3 games to 1 against the Chicago Bulls after their comfortable win last night, that might be the only comfortable thing going on for Dwayne Wade right now as the Heat star is dealing with a multitude of injuries – especially in the knee.
Multiple MRI exams performed on Wade do shed some good news – that his knee is structurally sound, but that doesn’t appear to comfort the pain Wade has been feeling as the nine time NBA All-Star is literally having to move his kneecap over just to relieve the pressure:
“I’m taping it. When you have a [bone] bruise, you try to move the kneecap over so it won’t rub. When you get into game sweat you have to re-tape it a bit.”
Wade has been dealing with the injury to his knee since March, missing games five different times because of it. He’s taken multiple weeks off but the pain simply wont vanish and it’s only getting worse as the Heat continue forward in the playoffs.
What’s to come for Wade is unknown, though offseason surgery may be the only option as rest doesn’t appear to be helping.
Wade is only averaging 12.2 points during the 2012-2013 playoffs, down from his career playoff average of 24.5.
