Los Angeles Dodgers Will Sign Jonathan Sanchez

The Pittsburgh Pirates released pitcher Jonathan Sanchez after his struggles on the mound that included an 11.85 ERA, but it hasn’t taken long for him to find a new home. Reports indicate that Sanchez will be making the journey to the west coast where he will join the Los Angeles Dodgers pending a physical.

From Pedro Gomez of ESPN:

Los Angeles is in desperate need of adding depth to their pitching rotation and bullpen, so the move would be a worthwhile investment if Sanchez can turn things around. The Dodgers also activated Zack Greinke from the DL, so they are making moves to fix their weakness.

As Gomez indicated, Sanchez is expected to be sent to the team’s Triple-A affiliate in Albuquerque.

Sanchez will have until July 1 to be promoted to the Dodgers big league roster or an opt-out clause will be activated that allows him to be released.
