In the past week or two, there have been reports that the Toronto Raptors were to pick up GM Bryan Colangelo’s contract option, but apparently if they do – it’ll be in somewhat of a lame duck scenario.
The Raptors, namely Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, have until Monday to decide whether to pick up the option on Colangelo’s contract and it appears that they’re doing everything they can to avoid doing so.
The Star is reporting that newly appointed CEO Tim Leiweke has hired an agency to find replacements for Colangelo, essentially what they’re call a “head-hunting” list, which should give Leiweke a handful of other options if that’s the route they choose to go with.
Per The Star:
And Leiweke is not conducting the search for a possible replacement on his own; multiple NBA sources say MLSE has hired a head-hunting firm to whittle down a list of possible replacements.
There have been a handful of potential candidates who’ve had their name thrown around, from former Portland Trail Blazer and current Indiana Pacers executive Kevin Pritchard to Troy Weaver, assistant general manager of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
