Pittsburgh Pirates Andrew McCutchen Out With Knee Pain

A bit of an unexpected oddity this morning as Pittsburgh Pirates two-time All-Star Andrew McCutchen was scratched from the Pirates’ Sunday afternoon lineup with a knee injury.

There’s no word on how McCutchen suffered the injury nor is their any word of how severe it is or if McCutchen will be forced to miss any additional time.

Per Bill Brink:

#Pirates scratch Andrew McCutchen because of pain in his right knee.

There have been suggestions from fans that McCutchen “tweaked” his knee rounding the bases last night as he gave a bit of a grimace after rounding first on a double last evening, though, the Pirates have yet to confirm this. Either way, that’s not exactly news Pirate fans are excited to hear about.

The Pirates currently sit in third place in the National League Central division, 2.5 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals and a game behind the Cincinnati Reds.

McCutchen is currently hitting .281 with 6 HR and 23 RBI in 160 at-bat’s.
