After reports leaked that Greg Oden has looked amazing during his rehabilitation workouts, NBA teams and scouts have been clamoring to get a peak at the progress of the former overall number one pick.
One such team would be the Boston Celtics, who according to the Boston Herald have interest in the former Portland Trail Blazer, though at the moment it’s only mild.
Per the Herald:
Greg Oden is still on the Celtics’ radar, but the oft-injured free agent center doesn’t seem to be a high priority. There have been good reports lately on Oden, who met with the C’s three months ago.
Celtics general manager Danny Ainge goes on further to say that while they do admit to interest, the last time they saw Oden he wasn’t ready physically, so they’d like to get a glimpse of him again before going any further. Ainge hopes to do that at some point this Summer.
Oden of course hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2009-10 season and only averaged 21 minutes a game when he did. But everybody likes to strike gold and when it comes to available lotto tickets, few (if any) have more potential outside of Oden who put up 11 points and 8.5 rebounds in those aforementioned 21 minutes a game.
