Jake Golic Transferring to Cincinnati Bearcats

Former Notre Dame tight end Jake Golic hasn’t had the opportunity to make much of an impact on the field with the Fighting Irish, so now he will look for a better chance to make his presence felt by joining former teammate Gunner Kiel with the Cincinnati Bearcats. Jake Golic’s father, Mike, announced the news on ESPN Radio Tuesday morning before Jake took to Twitter to confirm the news.

He wrote:

Cincinnati needed to add tight end depth with the loss of Travis Kelce to the NFL Draft in April.

While Golic is eligible to play immediately at Cincinnati after earning his undergraduate degree from Notre Dame, his former teammat Gunner Kiel will be forced to sit out the season because of NCAA transfer rules.

Golic was never able to catch a pass during his appearances at Notre Dame, but if he is unable to be a help at the position he is a capable and willing special teams contributor.

Golic’s brother, Mike Golic Jr., was recently signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent.
