The Baltimore Orioles learned today that infield prospect Jonathan Schoop will miss some significant time with a back injury. The second baseman will be meeting with a second doctor to get another opinion on his back, but it looks like the diagnosis will not be any better.
Per Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun:
Schoop has a stress fracture in back. Likely wok need 6 to 8 weeks of rest.Meet w a doc for 2nd opinion.

Schoop had been playing with Triple-A Norfolk and Double-A Bowie over the past two seasons. He was with Norfolk at the time of the injury.
This season with Norfolk, Schoop was batting .268/.331/.386 with three home runs and 18 RBI. He added a stolen base to his stat line. He was already having a down year compared to last season’s production and the added time will do nothing to enhance his standing in the prospects ranks.
It was just a year ago that Schoop was among the top 100 prospects in baseball, but he is no longer in the listings.
