Dortmund's Mario Götze to Miss Champions League Final Against Bayern Munich

Tensions will be high on Saturday for UEFA Champions League Final between German clubs Borussia Dortmand and Bayern Munich. Unfortunately for Dortmond, they will be without their star player Mario Götze for the game. Götze was injured during the team’s semifinal victory over Real Madrid and the team has decided his hamstring isn’t ready to go.

“Mario has felt something again in his hamstring,” Dortmund general manager Michael Zorc said. “That is why he stopped. We don’t know how bad it is and whether he is still suffering from it.”

In an interesting twist to the story, this will be the final game that Götze suits up for Die Schwarzgelben. He previously announced that he would be switching sides to Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

Losing Götze is certainly a big blow to Dortmund’s chances of winning the Champions League Final, but the team will be fighting hard to win the second Champions League title in club history and win one for their star player that has been with the team ever since his days on the junior level back in 2001.
