LeBron James Won't Commit to Team USA For 2016 Olympics

Wednesday morning it was announced that Mike Krzyzewski would be coming back to coach Team USA for the 2016 Rio Olympics. That was obviously great news for the team and players immediately began to endorse Coach K’s decision. Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love has already said he would like to see Coach K on the sidelines and now America’s biggest basketball star seemed just as happy.

Miami Heat star LeBron James spoke before Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals to talk about Krzyzewski’s decision to return and his future with Team USA.

On a positive note, James seemed very happy about the news of the Duke head coach returning to coach Team USA in Rio.

I think it’s great,” James said, via Ken Berger of CBSSports.com. “What he means to USA Basketball is beyond just what we do on the court. It’s what we stand for as Americans and being proud to wear the red, white and blue every time we step off the bus or go to practice or talk to the media or whatever the case may be.”

While he is fully endorsing the Coach K return, LeBron would not commit to the 2016 Olympics.

First, I’ve got to make sure I stay healthy,” James said. “If I’m fortunate enough to be healthy, I would love to represent my country again. But that’s a long time from now, so we’ll see.”

Whether or not LeBron returns to Team USA, they will be the heavy favorite to bring home another gold medal.

It is always a pleasure to watch LeBron play on the international stage, so hopefully he will suit up and give us some entertainment with the pride of the country on the line.
